Young Dallas Man Faces Charges After Deadly Motorcycle Accident

An 18-year-old man from Dallas is facing charges after a car he was driving collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist.

Joshua Albert Reyes is facing a charge from the University Park police for intoxication manslaughter resulting from a midnight crash on December 17 at the corner of Preston Road and University Boulevard.

Reyes was driving his Honda Civic eastbound on University Boulevard at the time of the accident. According to reports, Reyes failed to stop at a red light at the intersection.

Dallas resident Danny Ray Viola, 53, entered the intersection travelling south on Preston, striking Reyes car as it ran the light. Emergency crews rushed Viola to Parkland Hospital after the motorcycle accident, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the University Park police, Reyes was impaired by intoxication during the accident. Authorities ordered a blood draw, and the results of the mandatory test are still being processed.

If the test results confirm that Reyes was intoxicated at the time of the accident, what is already a bad situation will become much worse. Though the temptation might be higher during the holiday season, drinking and driving is not worth it.
