A motorcycle accident on September 18 left a Utah probation and parole officer dead, according to Fox 13 in Salt Lake City. The accident happened in the morning around 12600 South and 4425 West and involved a collision between the parole officer’s motorcycle and a sanitation truck.
At about 7:45 a.m., the probation officer was riding his motorcycle, heading east on 12600 South when he collided with the South Valley Sewer District sanitation truck. The truck had just pulled out of a shed by the road and in doing so, backed out into the street in front of the motorcyclist, causing the vehicles to collide.
The crash caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike. He did not die on the scene but was critically injured. The parole officer was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. No one else involved in the accident was reported to have been injured. Police were still investigating the cause of the accident at the time of this report.
“Right now, based on witness accounts, it does not appear that speed was a factor,” said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.
