Metier Law Firm was a proud sponsor of the 2016 Bikes for Tykes event hosted by Realities for Children. With Metier Law Firm’s help, and through the efforts of other sponsors and the community, Realities for Children distributed more than 300 bikes to abused, neglected and at-risk kids! At this year’s event, donated bicycles and tricycles came with personalized license plates provided by Metier Law Firm.
Since 1996, Realities for Children’s Bikes for Tykes program has given abused, neglected and at-risk kids bicycles and helmets during the holiday season. At the event, kids who are registered through Realities for Children or one of its affiliated agencies get the chance to choose one bicycle or tricycle among hundreds. This year, elves were on-hand to help children make their selections.
Safety is a major priority at this event. Bicycles donated through Bikes for Tykes are new or slightly used. Fortunately, Realities for Children has partnerships with several local bike shops who safety-check and refurbish these bicycles. At the event, bicycle mechanics are present to install training wheels or to adjust seat height. After selecting a bicycle, each child rides to the “safety zone”, where they take a brief quiz on bike safety. Children then select helmets to go with their new bicycles.
Do You Want to Participate in Bikes for Tykes?
While Realities for Children takes a majority of donations during November and December, you can still donate a bicycle or tricycle any time during 2017. At the end of the year, your donation will go towards bringing happiness and holiday cheer to abused, neglected and at-risk children.
