The Denver police are searching for the driver of a semi-truck that hit a bicyclist and fled the scene, according to ABC 7 in Denver. The accident happened in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood near Coors Field on October 28. At around 6:30 p.m., a semi-truck and a bicyclist collided at the intersection of Park Avenue West and Blake Street.
Police reported that during the collision, the front of the truck hit the cyclist. According to CBS 4 in Denver, the bicyclist had to be hospitalized and reportedly suffered a broken leg in the crash.
The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. At the time of this report, police were still trying to locate both the semi-truck and its driver. Witnesses have described the truck as a maroon or brown single-cab semi-truck with a “lowboy” trailer, which is a flatbed trailer with a low-to-the-ground profile. Police also report that part of the bicycle may still be stuck in the truck’s grill.
The level of irresponsibility of some drivers on the road can be staggering to comprehend. Being involved in an accident is one thing, but leaving the scene at all, let alone when the other party involved is clearly injured, is quite another.
