If you drive a 2007 or 2008 model of one of the following motorcycles, an upcoming motorcycle recall might affect you:
- BMW K1200 R
- BMW K1200 R Sport
- BMW K1200 S
BMW is issuing the recall because certain conditions caused the brake fluid to foam, which could decrease the braking capacity in the front wheel brake, leading to motorcycle accidents.
SaferCar.Gov, a branch of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that the recall affects 2,062 motorcycles.
BMW expects the recall to occur in November of 2012. If you own one of these bikes, you can contact BMW and initiate the recall process by calling BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Heeding these recalls is very important, especially when they concern braking components. If another motorist fails to see a motorcyclist and turns or shifts, bikers need to have quick reflexes and functional brakes to stop in time.
If you sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident, possibly caused by a defective component, you can seek justice against the manufacturer, repair shop or other negligent party. Schedule a free consultation with us to learn more about your rights. Call today: (866) 377-3800
