Are Careless Drivers Putting Motorcyclists at Risk for Disaster?

Drunk drivers kill thousands of motorists in the U.S. every year, but the risk is even higher for motorcycle enthusiasts who have very little protection against accidents. Last week, a Denver judge sentenced a drunk driver to twelve years in prison for his role in an accident earlier this year that killed a U.S. Air Force motorcyclist. On April 9, near the Buckley Air Force Base, the airman was riding home on his motorcycle when he was clipped by the drunk driver and sent flying into the street. How Often Are Car Accidents Caused by Reckless Driving?

Seven people in Adams County suffered injuries last week when a 100-mph street race between a Volvo and a motorcycle caused a devastating collision. During the high-speed race, the Volvo lost control and slammed into a Nissan. Two of the Nissan’s occupants were ejected from their vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Following the wreck, the motorcycle fled the scene and has yet to be located. Car accidents cause tens of thousands of deaths and millions of injuries annually. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gathers data on traffic accidents from all 50 states and publishes the findings. In 2012, the NHTSA reported that 2.236 million people were injured in car accidents and 33,561 were killed. Motorcyclists Celebrate Veterans Day

The Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade is a major event not only for families, but also for various clubs that wish to honor those who have fought for our country throughout our history. Colorado motorcyclist clubs were among the many organizations in attendance to educate kids and celebrate the sacrifices of our veterans. This tremendous 85-minute event brought in 4,000 citizens. Motorcyclists are among our most patriotic and holiday-oriented citizens. They are often seen not only riding in Veterans Day parades, but in Fourth of July, Christmas and Labor Day parades as well.
