FORT COLLINS, CO – February 7, 2012 – Attorneys Tom Metier and Patrick DiBenedetto of the Metier Law Firm were named to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious group of trial lawyers who have won million dollar and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. There are only 4,000 members of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which was established in 1993. Less than one percent of U.S. lawyers are members. Members must have acted as the principal counsel in a court or jury trial that resulted in a verdict, award or settlement of $1 million or more; and demonstrated, in an objective and tangible way, their ability to accomplish superior results in complex cases. Certification by the Million Dollar Advocates Forum provides recognition of such accomplishment. Tom Metier is the senior managing member of Metier Law Firm. He has been recognized in Super Lawyers and...

Tom Metier of Metier Law Firm, LLC is pleased to deliver a Law Tigers $10,000 reward to two Denver teens who chased down a hit and run driver in June of 2010. The two young Samaritans, Steven Sanchez and his friend Jason Perez, witnessed the hit and run killing of a motorcyclist and chased the driver, Effrain Villegas, as he tried to flee. 59-year-old biker John Brand died that day, and his girlfriend and passenger, Debbie Pyatok, survived the accident with serious injuries. Tom Metier brought Law Tigers to Colorado and Wyoming in 2007. Law Tigers is a national network of personal injury attorneys who are committed to helping motorcycle accident victims and their families obtain justice.
HBO’s documentary, Hot Coffee, which premiered on June 27, 2011 is an inside look at the famous McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit in 1994, and how the media portrayed the facts of the case to the public. Stella Liebeck filed the product liability lawsuit after she was burned heavily and severely from a cup of hot coffee from a McDonalds drive-through. The case was notorious for being a frivolous lawsuit, with ABC News on record as calling it “the poster child of excessive lawsuits.” The HBO documentary takes a deeper look at the facts of the case and how it actually happened. Liebeck did not suffer the reported “minor injury.” She had third degree burns covering 6% of her body that required two years of medical treatment. McDonald’s originally refused to settle the case—Liebeck’s medical bills totaled over $10,000 at the time she sought settlement, her future medical expenses were approximately...
